Abstract

Studies of the genesis of the theater and theatricalization of life show that these phenomena of European culture came from the ancient Greek mysteries, which were dedicated to Dionysus and Demeter. The process of transformation of these mysteries into the theater was promoted by the expansion of the functions of dialogue, which can be perceived as a primary element of the ancient drama. Recognizing the dialogue as a dramatic element allows us to offer a new perspective on the theatricalization of life, namely, as one of the forms of “growth” of mankind from the primitive myth: from mythological consciousness to the philosophical method of cognition, from the mysteries of mythological content to the art of drama and theater
