За довгі роки незалежності сучасна зовнішня політика України впадала з одної до іншої крайнощів. Показовим маркером останніх десятиліть політичної розбудови незалежності України, були суперечки з приводу побудови політичної лінії Схід-Захід, що природньо викликало суперечки серед українських політиків. Натомість вертикальна політика Північ-Південь, запропонована Ю. Липою приводить сьогодні до суттєвих результатів, як в оборонній так і соціально-гуманітарній сфері сучасного українського життя.
Over the long years of independence, modern foreign policy of Ukraine has fallen from one extreme to another.
